Celebrating 50 Years of the University of Mauritius - The Role of the Faculty of Agriculture





The Faculty of Agriculture 

The Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Mauritius is organizing a one-day exhibition in the context of the 50 years celebrations of the University on Friday 11th December 2015 from 9h00 to 16h00 on the compound of the Faculty. The target audience of this event is the public at large, and the main aim is to popularize the research, teaching and outreach activities undertaken by the Faculty.

There will be posters and paintings depicting the evolution and achievements of the Faculty over the years. The contribution of the Faculty research in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resource and its relevance and impacts will be showcased in various forms. And many more activities are waiting for you to discover!!!!!!
 
ACTIVITIES 


 Laboratory Exhibits (zoology, microbiology, biotechnology, food science, soil chemistry, crop production)
-- Local Student Corner (domino, tug of war, twister, selfie competition, mehendi etc.)
-- International Students Corner (games such as Zenge, Ludo, ‘Quick fingers’, ‘Countries of Africa’ brainteaser , showcase African culture and agriculture etc)
-- Food Sale (potato fries, banana chips, exotic snacks from Africa etc.)
-- Demonstration of a prototypic Solar Drier
-- Sale of the University of Mauritius Farm products (plants, vegetables, ferns, flowers etc)
-- Farm animal show
-- Current and prospective programmes run by the Faculty
-- Activities of the student-run Agricultural Society  (display on the evolution of the Faculty of Agriculure, talk on medicinal plants, irrigation and organic farming, science experiments etc)
-- Ice point (sale of kulfi and vanilla/caramel ice cream) 
-- Research on soil, food, crops, tissue culture etc. carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture
-- Donation of non-perishable food items to CEDEM
