Launching of the Small Famers Welfare Fund Website

5 students from batch BSc (Hons) Agriscience and Technology (minor: Agribusiness Management) received fruit trees donated by the Ministry of Agroindustry and Food Security.
The Honourable Mahen Kumar Seeruttun, Minister of Agroindustry and Food Security handed over the Strategic Plan 2016-2020 for the foodcrop, livestock and forestry sectors to the Faculty of Agriculture represented by Mr Shane Hardowar.
The Small Farmers Welfare Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Agroindustry and Food Security hosted a function for the launching of the SFWF's website and handing over of cheques under the Agricultural Calamities Solidarity Scheme on 24th March 2016 at MCIA hall, St Pierre. The ceremony was graced by the Hon M.Kumar Seeruttun, Minister of  Agroindustry and Food Security and Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Yogida Sawminaden.               

Students of the Faculty of Agriculture were also invited to attend the function and were represented by the BSc (Hons) Agriscience and Technology (minor: Agribusiness Management). During the function, the Honourable Ministers greeted the Faculty of Agriculture and were very pleased to meet our students. 

The Ministers emphasised the importance of the website and innovative tools that can stimulate youngsters especially agricultural students from the Faculty of Agriculture to invest in agriculture and take up farming as a business. They also praised the Dean of FOA for the good work carried out for mounting courses in agriculture and encouraging our youth to go into agribusiness. Ministers pointed out that the Government through the Ministry of Agroindustry and Food Security is actually working on measures to motivate youngsters to invest in the agriculture sector.
