The Future of Farming: A Talk on Career Prospects in Agriculture


The Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture hosted a talk on career prospects in agriculture, especially in the sugar estates, and allied fields for students and alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture on Friday, June 9, 2023. The event was held in RBLT from 12:00 to 13:00. The talk aimed to inform the participants about the current and future challenges and opportunities in the agricultural industry, as well as the skills and qualifications required to succeed in this field.

The speakers from Alteo, ENL, Medine, and Terra sugar conglomerates discussed a variety of career opportunities in the agricultural sector, including:

  • Sugar estates
  • Crop production/CropRotation
  • Livestock farming
  • Landscaping
  • Agribusiness


The speakers also discussed the latest technology being used in agriculture, such as:
