The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Mauritius hosted the FOLSUN (Food Literacy and Sustainable Nutrition) Initiative's EXPERT INSIGHTS SESSION on 25th September 2025. The session, titled "Reimagining Food for Tomorrow", featured three expert presentations:
Food Safety Systems: Mr. Ved Munbodh discussed integrating People, Process, and Technology to transform food safety from compliance into a strategic business asset3.
Food Circular Economy: Professor William Chen Wei Ning (NTU Singapore) addressed environmental challenges and presented how developing urban alternative foods and a data-driven food circular economy can boost resilience and reduce waste. He emphasized that advanced risk assessments are needed to ensure the safety of these new foods.
Nutraceuticals: Mr. Vinay Kanhve (Kanhye Health Foods Co Ltd) detailed his company's journey as a pioneer in organic moringa and natural health products in Mauritius since 2015, achieving global exports and multiple awards for innovation and sustainability.
