MSC AGRIBUSINESS MANAGEMENT GRADUATION CEREMONY 2016

The Faculty of Agriculture will be organising a special graduation ceremony on Tuesday 29 November 2016 at 16.30 hours in the R Burrenchobay Lecture Theatre for the MSc Agribusiness Management students. This programme saw the participation of 7 HAAGRIM scholars and one Mauritian. This is a special event for the Faculty of Agriculture which has successfully run the course and implemented the project. A special thanks goes to Dr Brinda Ransawmy for spearheading the project to fruition. 

RELEASE OF A NEW VARIETY OF LITCHI IN MAURITIUS

Plus gros, plus sucrés et encore plus juteux… Voilà de quoi plaire aux amateurs de letchis.
Cette nouvelle variété a pour nom «Yook Ho Pow». Elle fera bientôt son apparition sur le marché local.

Une nouvelle variété de letchis à l’île Maurice est actuellement en culture et devrait faire prochainement faire son introduction sur le marché local.

La variété de letchis Yook Ho Pow au noyau plus petit donne ainsi des letchis plus gros, plus sucrés et avec plus de chair juteuse que la variété Tai So traditionnellement cultivée à l’île Maurice.



Une nouvelle variété de letchis à Maurice qui devrait trouver facilement sa place auprès des consommateurs mauriciens et autres touristes de passage, mais aussi à l’international pour conquérir notamment le très gourmand marché européen.


Pour rappel, la production de letchis à l’île Maurice pourrait avoisiner les 13,000 tonnes à 15,000 tonnes en 2016.

 

AFMA 10th CONGRESS IN MAURITIUS

The African Farm Management Association (AFMA) held its 10th congress from 20th-24th November 2016, at Le Meridien Hotel, Pointe aux Piments, Mauritius. it was coorganised by the Faculty of Agricuture, University of Mauritius, Reduit, Mauritius. The Forum provided an avenue for farm and agribusiness specialists and other stakeholders in the public and private sectors for exchanging knowledge and experiences in an effort to reposition African agriculture in the global environment.

LAgroalimentaire dans L'ocean Indien- Conference de Qualireg 2016

Le réseau QualiREG organise du 28 novembre au 2 décembre 2016 à l’Université de la Réunion, IUT de Saint Pierre dans le parc Tech Sud, la 5ème édition des Rencontres de l’Agroalimentaire en océan Indien sur le thème : « La qualité et l’innovation au service du développement des filières agroalimentaires de l’océan Indien ».

GRADUATION CEREMONY 2016-CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL GRADUATES

Our students received their diplomas/degrees/MPhil/PhD certificates at the Graduation Ceremony of 24 October 2016. This year there were 3 cohorts of studenst in the following programme of studies: BSc (Hons) Microbiology, BSc(Hons) AgricScience and Technology and BSc(Hons)AgricScience and Technoloy (minor AgriBusiness Management). 2 students received their PhDs and one an MPhil. 

It was a big milestone in their and their families' lives, and many academics staff were there to share in the celebration of their success. Having being an integral part of their development, we were proud to see them processing in the ceremony to receive their certificates. This is also our success as a Faculty. We have always strived to dedicate ourselves to our students on one hand, and to our Faculty on the other.
